June 28-29, 2014 was my first ARRL Field Day. I was elmered by the best: my father K8VEB in a small field on my property. We were on-the-air from 2pm to 6am and weathered a thunderstorm... it was FUN & I finally got my feet wet on HF.
We used a G5RV and a slinky antenna with center feed on a 20' aluminum flagpole. We went at a relaxed pace and made 119 contacts. We used N3FJP's ARRL Field Day Contest Log for logging.

June 27-28, 2015 was the second annual EARS (Eagle Area Radio Service) ARRL Field Day in a small field on my property. Field Day is a fun way to practice emergency prepearedness and test our skills and equipment. My father K8VEB and I were on-the-air from 2pm to 5:30am. We were visited by a couple of vistors whom have interest in amateur radio. We were blessed to be able to share a little of the amateur radio experience with them.
We set up in rainy weather and the rain continued on-and-off over the coarse of the coolish 24 hours. We made 160 contacts for a score of 320 points using N3FJP's Amateur Radio Contact Log software.
We ran on battery and generator power. I used a G5RV antenna and my father used a multi-band antenna, both with center feed on a 20' aluminum flagpole.
